Integrate the Oct8ne catalog
One of Oct8ne's main features is its integrated viewer.
The viewer is an interactive space shared by agents and customers within the chat, allowing them to view images and videos of the products in your catalog. You can simultaneously zoom in and draw on the items in your store to advise users in a much more agile way, allowing you to close more sales. As a general rule, if your store is developed in a common CMS such as (Woocommerce WP, Prestashop, Magento2, Shopify, etc.) and you install the bplugin, your catalog will be 100% integrated.
From the viewer itself, your catalog will already be accessible so that agents and the bot can suggest products!
At the same time, Oct8ne allows you to upload products to an internal catalog, specific to Oct8ne (Oct8ne Catalog), in order to display products in the viewer that is so characteristic of the tool.
To do this, you can manually upload products through the interface within the Oct8ne panel.
Do I really need to have my products in the Oct8ne internal catalog?
Perhaps you want to keep your catalog updated without having to install the plugin. Or maybe your online store does not have the Oct8ne plugin available for the CMS on which your website is developed, or you simply want to have additional products to display in the viewer.
There are different types of uploads for the Oct8ne internal catalog. Let's take a look:
MANUAL PRODUCT UPLOAD (via the panel):
To manually add a product to the Oct8ne catalog, you must first create the categories you want to have in the Oct8ne internal catalog.
In the ‘Oct8ne Catalog’ > ‘Extra Resources’ section, you will find a category tree. You can create categories and subcategories using the + button.
For example:
You can then create a product by clicking on the ‘Add new product’ button.
A new section representing the product file will appear.
On the left side, a form with the product details will appear. You must fill in the following details:
Name: REQUIRED. This is the name of the product. Maximum 100 characters. This is the field used by Oct8ne's internal search engine to perform searches.
Price: OPTIONAL. Price of the product. Maximum 50 characters.
Item URL: OPTIONAL. This is the product's landing page. The URL must begin with ‘http’ or ‘https’. Maximum 250 characters.
Description: OPTIONAL. Accurate description of the product. You can use the same one as on the website. It must not contain ‘html’ tags. Maximum 250 characters.
Reference: OPTIONAL. Internal reference number of the product. Maximum 100 characters.
Categories: OPTIONAL. Select the category from the previously created category tree.
The Item URL field is very important, as it is the field that allows product tracking. Through this field, we know which product the customer is looking at, and we can display it in the Oct8ne viewer. To do this, the Item URL field must be IDENTICAL to the canonical URL of each product page.
* If the page does not have the rel=‘canonical’ tag, the Item URL field must be IDENTICAL to the page URL.
The reference field is the internal product number and can be used in the BOT to perform direct searches for that specific product and display it in the Oct8ne viewer.
On the right-hand side, you will see the section for adding images to the product in question.
Clicking on the ‘Add’ button will bring up a drop-down menu, where you can tell the system the location of the resource you want to add. This can be a file stored on your PC, a public URL, or a video uploaded to YouTube. (No other platforms are accepted!)
Remember: Adding images is very important in Oct8ne, as this allows you to take full advantage of the tool's potential. If the uploaded product does not have an image, a default image will be displayed in the viewer. The following image types are accepted: jpg, png, bmp, and gif. Other extensions are NOT supported.
Once the product form has been filled out, click on SAVE and the product will be ready to be displayed through the Oct8ne viewer.
AUTOMATIC PRODUCT UPLOAD (via FEED file):
If your catalog contains dozens, hundreds, or thousands of products, the best option is to perform a MASS upload, i.e., a bulk upload of all the products in your store.
To do this, we will use a file, which we will call a product FEED. This file must have a series of characteristics that we will explain later. (See related article)
Go to the ‘Oct8ne Catalog’ section of the Oct8ne panel. Click on the ‘MASSIVE FEED’ tab. Then, on the right-hand side, click on ‘Add Feed’.
First of all, you must decide whether you want to enter your catalog into Oct8ne on a ONE-TIME basis (Manual) or whether you want your products to be uploaded on a RECURRING basis (Schedule).
- ONE-TIME (manual): The upload will be done ONLY ONCE. This is ideal for products whose characteristics do not change much, i.e., the description, title, images, and price remain stable over time. It is like having a ‘snapshot’ of your catalog within Oct8ne.
- RECURRING (schedule): If, on the other hand, your store works with dynamic products, i.e., they change in price, description, are added, deleted, on a REGULAR BASIS, we recommend that you use a RECURRING automatic upload.
PUNCTUAL FEED (MANUAL IMPORT)
You must inform oct8ne of the type of FEED file you are uploading. You can choose between CSV or XML. You must choose a language for the FEED, which is for informational purposes only. By clicking on the ‘Upload File’ button, you can choose the file from your computer. Click on open, and the file upload will be completed successfully.
Remember: The ONE-TIME upload is only done once. Furthermore, the products WILL NOT BE VISIBLE IMMEDIATELY.
As a general rule, it takes us no more than approximately 1 hour to correctly import your products to our servers. Please be patient. Thank you!
RECURRING FEED (or AUTOMATIC IMPORT)
You must enter a title that will appear as a parent category in the catalog. You must select the FEED file format, either CSV or XML. You must fill in the file name WITH EXTENSION and the path where it will always be available to Oct8ne.
In this case, we need the absolute URL (on the server) to download the file on a recurring basis. Optionally, we understand that your file and/or server may be password protected. If you want to have ‘extra’ security for your file, you must provide us with access permissions, either the ‘username’ and ‘password’ to access it remotely.
Finally, you must choose a language for the file, for informational purposes, and, very importantly, the frequency with which you want Oct8ne to access your servers to download the file and update the products. Once the form has been filled out, the RECURRING UPLOAD will be correctly configured, and this step will not need to be performed again.
Remember: Products will NOT BE VISIBLE IMMEDIATELY. Recurring imports are a process that we carry out during the early hours of the morning. As a general rule, it takes us no more than approximately 24 hours to successfully import your products to our servers for the first time. Please be patient. Thank you!
* After the first 24 hours, the file will run as often as you have defined in the settings.
