Setting up Triggers

Trigger Configuration

Triggers are mechanisms that activate the chat, proactively inviting customers to speak with agents.
When configuring a trigger, you'll need to choose a name, a brief description (optional), the condition that will trigger the action, and the action that will be executed when the configured conditions are met.

CONDITIONS

These are the conditions that must be met for the chat window to open proactively.

There are several conditions:
  1.  Based on time
    1.  Total time on site
    2. Time on a single page
  1. Based on pages
    1. URL of the current page
    2. Different pages viewed
  1. Based on products (Number of products) - (Available in full version)
  1. Based on date and time
  1. Based on page language
  1. Customizable (Custom condition)

ACTIONS

The action is the event that will be executed when the above conditions are met.
You can choose one action from the following 5.

  1. Open Oct8ne chat: Launches and opens the chat with the default message. (Desktop only; on mobile, it's sent as a 'callout' to avoid being intrusive.)
  2. Send "Callout": Launches the default message, but doesn't fully open the chat; instead, the message appears as a callout (floating bubble). It's less intrusive than the previous one.
  3. Show widgets: Widgets will be hidden on all pages and will only be shown when the trigger conditions are met. (This trigger will ALWAYS behave aggressively.)
  4. Hide widgets: Widgets will be shown on all pages and will only be hidden when the trigger conditions are met. (This trigger will ALWAYS behave aggressively.)
  5. Show popup: When the trigger conditions are met, a popup will appear on the screen, and clicking on it will open the chat with the configured message. (This trigger will ALWAYS behave aggressively.)

ADVANCED CONFIGURATION

A trigger typically won't fire if another one has already fired.
Check this box if you want the trigger to fire even if the chat has already been opened by a previous trigger. Checking this box configures the trigger as an 'aggressive trigger'.
This is used for triggers that are critical to the business, such as those on the shopping cart page.

In this section you can also configure which device the trigger will run on.

Finally, it is important to activate the trigger; to do this we will click the "ACTIVATED" option in the upper right.

When we don't want the trigger to 'activate', we will deactivate it by turning it red and selecting "DEACTIVATED".

Once we want to save all the changes, we must click on “Save”.

You can also configure triggers with custom conditions.
Custom conditions allow you to execute triggers based on completely custom parameters defined on your own website.
You can see how to configure custom triggers here.
