Browser notifications

Browser notifications

Desktop notifications are a very useful tool for staying informed about important information: messages, alerts, updates, and reminders appear directly on your screen, even when you're not on a website.

In this article, we explain step by step how they work and how to activate them depending on your browser.

Warning
To ensure notifications display correctly, please note the following:
They will not appear if you are within the Oct8ne app itself.
Notifications are designed to alert you when you are not viewing that tab. They only appear if the app is in the background or minimized, meaning if you are using another tab or another application.

If you have the Oct8ne tab active, you will not receive notifications because you are already viewing the information directly.

How to enable notifications in Oct8ne

Go to the Oct8ne control panel.
A message will appear.

Click on the message and then click 'Allow'. Your browser will usually prompt you to refresh the webpage.

Warning
If the message does not appear, you may have already blocked notifications (we explain how to fix this below).

How to manage notifications depending on the browser

Although the process is similar, each browser has its own settings:

Notification center and "Do Not Disturb" mode (Windows)

If you're using Windows, there are two key elements that can affect notifications:

πŸ–₯️ Notification Center

  • All the notifications you receive are stored in the Notification Center.
  • You can open it from the icon in the bottom right corner (next to the clock).
  • If you miss a notification, you'll usually find it there.

'Do Not Disturb' Mode

  • If 'Do Not Disturb' mode is enabled, notifications will not appear on your screen.
  • However, they may still be saved in the notification center.

πŸ‘‰ To check:

  1. Go to Windows Settings
  2. System β†’ Notifications
  3. Check if 'Do Not Disturb' mode is enabled

Advanced notifications

In addition to browser notifications, you can also configure how to receive alerts directly within the application, especially on mobile and in the messaging module.

πŸ“± Mobile push notifications

Push notifications let you receive alerts directly on your mobile phone, even when you're not using the oct8ne app.

You'll receive a notification when a visitor types in the chat for the FIRST TIME.

    Warning
Even if you disable this feature, you'll always receive a notification when a visitor contacts you through Oct8ne and is already in contact with you. This ensures you don't miss any important conversations.
Push notifications are specifically designed for when a visitor enters the WAITING status.

πŸ’¬ Notifications in the Messaging channel

From the "Edit notifications" option, you can customize how and when you want to be notified:
    • Enable or disable notifications on:
      • Mobile
      • Desktop
    • Control message alerts received from connected channels.
    • Define the instances from which you want to receive notifications.
    • Configure associated work queues.
